An Escape to a Beautiful Oasis in Cancun

My wife and I recently spent an unforgettable six nights at Dreams Cozumel Cape Resort & Spa, and from the moment we arrived, we were swept away by the resort’s stunning oceanfront setting, warm hospitality, and endless dining and activity options. Nestled along Cozumel’s crystal-clear coastline, this Hyatt Inclusive Collection property offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, with the added perk of access to neighboring Secrets Aura Cozumel and Sunscape Sabor Cozumel restaurants, pools and bars. You get to enjoy the facilities of three resorts in one.
As Preferred Club guests, we enjoyed exclusive benefits, including access to Secrets Aura’s Bordeaux restaurant (a French culinary gem) and the Preferred Club Lounge, making our stay even more enjoyable. Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway, a family-friendly retreat, or an adults-only escape (thanks to Preferred Club privileges), Dreams Cozumel Cape delivers.

The Resort: Modern Luxury Meets Caribbean Charm
Dreams Cozumel Cape Resort & Spa is a boutique-style property with a fresh, contemporary design. The air-conditioned Preferred Club lobby welcomes guests with sweeping ocean views, setting the tone for a tranquil stay. The resort’s smaller footprint creates an intimate atmosphere, yet the access to three resorts (Dreams, Secrets, and Sunscape) means you’ll never run out of things to do.
We stayed in a Preferred Club Oceanfront Junior Suite, which was spacious, modern, and impeccably maintained. Highlights included:
– A massive walk-in rainfall shower (with great water pressure!)
– A private balcony with breathtaking ocean views
– Daily-stocked minibar (beer, soda, water, and snacks)
– Complimentary wine and tequila welcome amenity
– Nespresso coffee machine for morning pick-me-ups
As Preferred Club guests, we also enjoyed:
✅ Access to Secrets Aura’s Bordeaux restaurant (more on this later!)
✅ Exclusive lounge with premium drinks and snacks
✅ Priority reservations at Gohan Teppanyaki
✅ Enhanced room service options
Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: If you’re booking a Preferred Club room, request a high floor for the best views and minimal noise.

Unlimited-Luxury®: Everything You Need and More
As with all Secrets Resorts, Dreams Resorts offers the Unlimited-Luxury® package, which includes:

Dining: A Culinary Tour of Mexico & Beyond
One of the biggest perks of staying at Dreams Cozumel is the unlimited dining access across Dreams, Secrets, and Sunscape. With nine restaurants offering a diverse array of cuisines, every meal felt like a new adventure and a celebration. Whether you’re craving fresh seafood, authentic Mexican dishes, or gourmet French cuisine, the resort’s culinary offerings are sure to impress.
LifeGoalTravel Pro Tip: Plan your dinners early in your stay to ensure you get to try all the restaurants. Use the Hyatt Inclusive Collection app on Apple or Android to check menus and make reservations. Here’s a detailed look at the dining options that made our stay unforgettable:

1. Anatto (Dreams) – Authentic Mexican Flavors
Located within the resort, Anatto promises an authentic taste of Mexican cuisine fused with an Asian twist, and it absolutely delivers. From the moment you step into the warmly lit space, with its tasteful décor and inviting ambiance, you know you’re in for something special. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles, however, the wait was a bit longer than we anticipated.
We started with the Sikil P’aak, a creamy and flavorful pumpkin seed dip served with warm tortilla chips. It was a delightful introduction to the Yucatecan flavors Anatto champions. Of course, being all-inclusive, we also had the Sopa de Tortilla, a rich and comforting tomato-based soup with crispy tortilla strips, avocado, and cheese. It was the perfect starter. For our main courses, my wife opted for the Cochinita Pibil, the slow-roasted pork marinated in achiote, which was incredibly tender and bursting with earthy, slightly sweet notes. I I decided to try the Pescado Tikin Xic, a grilled fish marinated in achiote and sour orange juice. The fish was flaky and flavorful, and the accompanying pickled onions provided a delightful tang. This dish was a true masterpiece – the balance of flavors and textures was simply exquisite.
2. Pizzeria (Dreams) – Wood-Fired Perfection
We decided to try one of their “Fresh” options, the Belgioioso. This pizza featured pomodoro sauce, mozzarella, and the star ingredient: Belgioioso cheese. Topped with fresh arugula and a drizzle of olive oil, it offered a lighter, more sophisticated take on pizza. The Belgioioso cheese was creamy and slightly tangy, pairing beautifully with the peppery arugula. It was a refreshing and delicious choice. The all-inclusive nature allowed us to be adventurous and try different pizzas without hesitation, making our dining experience even more enjoyable.
Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: The Pizzeria is open for lunch but has a limited menu, more like bar food. The only pizza available for lunch was Margherita.
Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: Check your favorite weather app and plan to arrive about 45 minutes before sunset. Bring your camera or phone, set up a tripod, and run hyperlapse mode to record an unforgettable sunset!

3. Olio: A taste of Italy
Olio promises authentic Italian flavors and it absolutely delivers. Olio Restaurant: A Taste of Italy in Mexico (Our Date Night Delight!) From the moment we stepped inside, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The soft lighting, the gentle murmur of conversation, and the subtle aroma of garlic and herbs created a truly romantic ambiance – perfect for our little date night. Olio has indoor and outdoor seating so plan to be there around sunset for a beautiful scenery.
We decided to go all out and sample a bit of everything. For starters, we couldn’t resist the Arancini, those crispy fried risotto balls filled with gooey mozzarella. They were the perfect little bite to whet our appetites. We also shared the Carpaccio di Manzo, thinly sliced raw beef drizzled with olive oil, capers, and Parmesan. It was delicate, flavorful, and a refreshing contrast to the richer arancini.
For our main courses, my wife opted for the Linguine alle Vongole, a classic pasta dish with fresh clams, garlic, white wine, and a touch of chili. She declared it perfectly cooked, with the clams being incredibly fresh and the sauce bursting with flavor. I, on the other hand, went for the Osso Buco, a slow-braised veal shank served with saffron risotto. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the risotto was creamy and fragrant. It was a truly hearty and satisfying dish.
Of course, no Italian meal is complete without dessert! We decided to share two: the classic Tiramisu and the Panna Cotta with Berry Coulis. The tiramisu was rich, creamy, and the perfect balance of coffee and cocoa flavors. The panna cotta was silky smooth and the tartness of the berry coulis provided a lovely counterpoint.
**Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: Arrive about 45 minutes before sunset, set up a tripod, and run the hyperlapse mode on your phone camera for an amazing and professional video experience!

4. Bordeaux: French Elegance (Secrets Aura)
Bordeaux offers a delightful escape into the world of classic French flavors. The quality of the food, the elegant ambiance, and the exceptional service all combined to create a truly memorable culinary highlight of our trip to Cozumel. The ambiance was sophisticated and romantic, with soft lighting, elegant décor, and a hushed, intimate atmosphere. It felt like a true departure from the more casual vibes of the main resort.
Bordeaux is open for breakfast for Preferred Club guests only. This is a special VIP benefit you’ll receive at no additional charge by booking any room through us (whether you book a Preferred Club room or not, you get PC status as our invited guest throughout your stay!) This is the only a la carte option at the resorts each morning aside from the Market Cafe or World Cafe buffet. Plus, it’s air-conditioned in case you want to start your morning cool and refreshed.
For dinner, I decided to start with the Escargots. Served in a rich beurre blanc sauce with toasted brioche and a vibrant parsley oil, they were cooked to perfection – tender and bursting with garlicky, buttery goodness. The crusty brioche was ideal for soaking up every last drop of the delectable sauce.
For my main course, I couldn’t resist the allure of the Cordon Bleu. This wasn’t your average, run-of-the-mill version. Stuffed generously with ham and cheese, the chicken was beautifully cooked and incredibly moist. The accompanying goat cheese sauce was creamy and tangy, adding a delightful layer of complexity. And let’s not forget the mashed potatoes – smooth, buttery, and the perfect comforting side.
Of course, no French meal is complete without dessert, so we indulged in the quintessential Crème brûlée. The caramelized sugar crust cracked perfectly under my spoon, revealing a smooth, rich custard with just the right amount of vanilla.
Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: Bordeaux is ideal for a romantic dinner. Pair your meal with a glass of wine from their extensive selection (for an additional cost). For the absolute over-the-top experience, ask your Concierge to arrange dinner in the cava (cost is around $290 and comes with an exclusive bottle of wine).

5. Oceana: Delicious Beachside Dining (Secrets Aura)
Overlooking the beach, Oceana is perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner. The menu features fresh seafood, burgers, and salads. We loved the shrimp aguachile (it’s like a limey/cilantro-ee ceviche), the grilled salmon with veggies, and the seafood soup. For a heartier lunch, try the tempura fish tacos or the surf and turf burger. Oceana has its own bar, so cold beverages are served quickly.
Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: Oceana is one of the few restaurants where you can wear shorts, swimwear and flip flops making it a great option for a casual meal. However, please note that women must wear a cover-up and men’s t-shirts must have sleeves.
Life Goal Travel Pro Tip #2: Don’t want to spend 1 to 2 hours at dinner or get all dressed up for date night? Arrive at 4:45pm for a super early dinner and you’ll be in and out in 25 minutes!

6. Gohan Sushi Bar (Secrets Aura at the Sky Bar)
For a change of pace, we tried Gohan Sushi Bar and we were quite impressed. The sauteed edamame with lemon and soy sauce was great and paired well with a side of spring rolls. You’ll equally be in for a treat if you try the Asian-Mexican roll with arrachera beef and chipotle mayonnaise. And of course, the Pad Thai is a classic as well as the chicken yakimeshi. Don’t forget to leave room for some tempura vanilla ice cream for dessert!

7. Barefoot Grill: Poolside Bites
For a quick snack or lunch by the pool, Barefoot Grill is the go-to spot. The menu includes favorites like beef nachos, chicken wings, and hot dogs. Try the Mexican hotdog on the beach without leaving your lounger (your beach server will be happy to bring Barefoot. The draw to this casual dining spot is that you don’t have to change into anything to cover up. No shoes, No shirt, No problem!
**Pro Tip: Barefoot Grill is open from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, making it perfect for a midday break. Your beach server can bring you drinks and menu items from Barefoot grill right to your beach chair.
8. World Café: International Buffet
For breakfast, lunch and dinner, World Café offers a wide variety of international dishes in a buffet format. The made-to-order omelets and fresh juices are perfect for starting your day, while the lunch spread includes everything from grilled meats to fresh salads and street tacos.
Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: If you prefer a quieter breakfast, try the Preferred Club breakfast at Secrets Aura’s Bordeaux available only for Preferred Club guests like you! Our LifeGoalTravel invited guest program turns your ordinary stay into a Preferred Club stay no matter what room type you select!
Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: You have the option to dine in the open air and enjoy the beautiful vistas from the terrace, or cool off indoors in an air-conditioned space during hot days.
9. Coco Café: Sweet Treats and Coffee
Open 7am to 11pm, Coco Café is the perfect spot for a coffee break or a sweet treat. The cappuccinos and flavored coffees were our favorites. They also have small bites like sandwiches, ice cream, and fruit cups available most of the day.
Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: Grab a coffee and pastry in the morning and enjoy it while watching the sunrise over the ocean.

10. Room Service: Where the dress code is whatever you want
One of the perks of staying at Dreams Cozumel Cape is the 24-hour room service. The menu includes a variety of options, from grilled salmon and vegetables to New York strip and chicken primavera pasta. We loved ordering breakfast to our room and enjoying it on the balcony with a view of the ocean. Plus, you can order beer or wine from their house wine selection and have Chardonnay or Cabernet more delivered right to your room! Cocktails must be picked up at the bar, they are not delivered with in-room dining. Our favorites were most definitely the chicken soup (ask for a bit of lime and habanero salsa…so good!) and the arrachera steak for dinner, and the divorced eggs (like huevos rancheros but with 2 different salsas) and the avo toast with bacon and a side of potatoes. Delish!
Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: We have to admit, in-room dining was utterly amazing at Dreams. You normally find basic fare for room service, but every single meal was incredibly delicious. So much so that we opted to stay in rather than dine out several times!
11. Special Dining Experiences
Dreams Cozumel also offers unique dining experiences, such as:
Private Beach Dinners: Perfect for a romantic evening, these dinners can be arranged through your concierge. Our LifeGoalTravel Unlimited Sharing Program includes 25% off private romantic dinners, even if you don’t book a preferred room! Contact us today!

The Pools and Beach: Pure Relaxation
Beach & Snorkeling
The resort’s beach is gorgeous, though water shoes are a must due to rocky entry points. The snorkeling right off the shore was fantastic—we spotted stingrays, lobsters, and colorful fish! There’s kayak rentals right next door and the best part about Dreams Cozumel is that offshore excursions can be taken right from the resort. No need to drive to town to meet your captain.
Pools & Water Fun
All pools have wait staff and food available as part of your all-inclusive package. However, be aware that staffing is sometimes limited and if you can’t wait, it’s best to grab your own cold beverage.
– Dreams Pool: Smaller but lively, with games led by the energetic entertainment team. This pool is family friendly but has a full swim-up bar for adults that’s open until 6:30pm.
– Secrets Pools: Adults-only, with a swim-up bar and pool loungers. The Secrets fun pool is by Bordeaux and the Preferred Club lounge. The other pool is beachside and has a calmer appeal to it.
– Sunscape Pool: Great for families, with slides and a splash pad.
Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: Grab your premium liquor cocktails at the Preferred Club before diving in. Although the Secrets fun pool has its own swim-up bar, Premium liquor like Grand Marnier is only available in the PC lounge.
Activities and Entertainment
Whether you’re looking for relaxation or adventure, Dreams Cozumel has something for everyone. During the day, you can join activities like yoga, water aerobics, or beach volleyball. In the evening, the resort comes alive with live music, themed parties, and shows like the fire show and Mayan cultural performance.
Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: Download the Hyatt Inclusive Collection app on Apple or Android to access restaurant menus, activity & show schedules, and more.

The Spa: A Sanctuary of Wellness
The Secrets Spa by Pevonia is a must-visit. We indulged in a couples’ massage and the hydrotherapy circuit, which included a sauna, steam room, and water journey. It was the ultimate relaxation experience! Schedule your complimentary hydrotherapy session as a Preferred Club guest!

Additional Life Goal travel Pro Tips for Your Stay
– Bring insulated cups: The Caribbean sun melts ice quickly, and these will keep your drinks cold on the beach and at the pool.
– Pack long pants for dinner: Some restaurants require men to wear long pants (jeans are fine).
– Tip generously: While gratuities are included, a little extra goes a long way in ensuring exceptional service. Bring $1 bills or you can ask your pool or beach server to break larger bills. They’re happy to exchange their Jacksons for a larger denomination.
– Download the Hyatt Inclusive Collection app: It’s your go-to resource for everything at the resort. Click here for Apple or Android. Although the room service menu can be found right in the app, you’ll need to call from your room phone to place your order.
– Ask for a side of chocolate with your in-room breakfast. This traditional Mexican hot chocolate is a delightful way to awaken your taste buds, whether enjoyed straight or splashed into your coffee.
– Check the weather forecast and book your spa treatments on a rainy day. The spa tends to get busy when guests can’t enjoy the pool or beach.
–Every bar has its own specialty drink menu. Try a bar hop or run through the drink menu at the Preferred Club lounge.
-If your visit is preceded by a storm, consider bringing water shoes. The rough tide can bring in seashells which can be cumbersome. The beach is smooth and soft floored once the rough tide settles.
-Bring your own OTC meds. Pepto chewables are $20 at the gift shop and the conversion rate is $17 pesos/dollar vs the standard $20 pesos (at print time).
-Whether you’re a couple, a group of friends, or a solo traveler, or a fun-loving family, Dreams Cozumel Cape offers something for everyone. Start planning your escape today and create memories that will last a lifetime!
