The Secrets Huatulco Resort and Spa offers several unique room categories, all of which are spacious, comfortable, and beautifully designed. We recommend you follow these room tips to make the best out of your stay: 

1. Download the Hyatt Inclusive Collection App and search for your specific resort within the app 

2. Order room service within the Hyatt Inclusive Collection app and schedule your breakfast the night before.  Room service tends to take about an hour but scheduling it at your desired wake-up time is always on time! You can also order a room snack ahead of time if you’re at the pool and heading back soon. 

3. Go to the Housekeeping menu within the app and request room cleaning services, turndown services, or request a different pillow from their Pillow Menu! 

4. There are three building LEVELS in the resort starting with Building 1 & 2 at the topmost level and Buildings 5 & 6 at the bottom.  Each building is 3 stories high.  The four digit room number in the image above represents the building number (three), the floor number (three) and the room number 14.  The higher the floor, the better the view of the Pacific.  Room 3314 has a better view than room 3114.  Also, Buildings 5 & 6 (bottom most level) have an obstructed view of the ocean on all its three floors, whereas Buildings 1, 2, 3 and 4 have exceptional views from their third floor. 

5. Use your Secrets Box next to your door to have items and room service delivered without disturbing you.  Make sure you unlatch the lock from inside so the attendant may open it from the outside.  Also, turn on your do not disturb light to signal them to use the Secrets Box.  Disclaimer:  sometimes they still knock, and sometimes you’ll get a call to let you know your food is in the Secrets Box. 

6. Bring your insulated cup of mug.  Ice melts quickly on the beach or pool.

Dress Code:

Before we proceed, Secrets resorts do their best to maintain the high standards and elegance of their properties.  While lunch has a much more relaxed vibe at the Market Buffet and outdoor restaurants like Seaside and Barefoot Grill, indoor dining will require a casual elegance dress code to include:

• Dress shoes, sneakers/tennis shoes
• Dress shirts with short or long sleeves
• Collared shirts, dresses, blouses
• Long pants for men for indoor seating
• Bermuda shorts or capri pants are acceptable for outdoor seating for dinner.
• Absolutely no sleeveless shirts, flip-flops for dinner restaurants
• For lunch dining, women must wear a bathing suit wrap or cover-up

Now, here’s a detailed look at the dining options that made our stay unforgettable.  The menus are very hard to search for on the web, but we have provided links for you below so you can plan your trip accordingly.  

1. Bordeaux:  

Bordeaux offers an elegant French dining experience with a menu that highlights classic dishes and sophisticated flavors.  
Must-Try Dishes:  
– Escargots à la Bourguignonne: Tender snails in a rich garlic and parsley butter sauce. A must-try for adventurous eaters.  
– Filet de Bœuf: Perfectly cooked beef fillet served with creamy potato and lentil ragout.  
– Crème Brûlée: A classic French dessert with a perfectly caramelized sugar topping.  
What to Wear:  
– For ladies: Cocktail dresses, skirts, or slacks with elegant blouses. Dress shoes or heels are recommended.  
– For men: Long pants (no shorts), collared shirts, and dress shoes. Jackets are optional but add a touch of sophistication.

2. Tamarindo:  

Hours: Breakfast: 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM |Dinner: 6:00 PM – 10:30 PM  

Tamarindo is the resort’s Mexican cuisine restaurant, offering a wide variety of options for breakfast and dinner.  

Breakfast Highlights: Chilaquiles: A classic Mexican breakfast dish with your choice of red or green sauce, topped with chicken or beef; Ham and Gouda Cheese Omelette: Fluffy and flavorful, with a generous filling of ham and cheese; French Toast: Sweet, crispy, and served with maple syrup—a breakfast favorite.  

Dinner Highlights: Oaxacan Tamal: Steamed corn dough filled with chicken and mole, wrapped in a banana leaf. The mole is rich and complex, a true taste of Oaxaca; Beef Tampiqueña: Thinly sliced beef fillet served with mole enchilada, roasted cactus, and rice. A hearty and satisfying dish! And of course, the creme de la creme: try the Churros with Mezcal Cream: Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and served with a decadent mezcal-infused cream.  
What to Wear:  
– Breakfast: Casual resort wear like shorts, t-shirts, sundresses, or light pants. Sandals or sneakers are fine.  
– Dinner: For ladies, sundresses, skirts, or slacks with a blouse. For men, long pants (jeans or khakis) and collared shirts. Closed-toe shoes or dressy sandals are recommended.

3. Spice:    

Hours: 6:00 PM – 10:30 PM.  This Asian-inspired restaurant serves a variety of dishes from Japan, China, and Thailand with both a la carte options and hibachi seating (by reservation). We were mesmerized by their spring rolls (Crispy and served with a tangy mandarin sauce); the Mongolian Beef: Tender beef stir-fried with vegetables and chili flakes, served over noodles; the Dragon Roll: A sushi roll filled with shrimp, avocado, and cucumber, topped with masago and sriracha sauce.  You mustn’t miss the chicken chow mien, and of course, the fried ice cream with caramel sauce. 
 What to Wear:  
– For ladies: Sundresses, skirts, or slacks with a blouse.  
– For men: Long pants (no shorts) and collared shirts.  
– Closed-toe shoes or dressy sandals are recommended.

4. Market Café:  

This is the resort’s main buffet restaurant, which serves breakfast and lunch (open 7am to 11:30am, then again from 1pm to 5pm) featuring international cuisine, made-to-order omelets & smoothies, seafood, fresh tacos and Mexican food, salads, fruits, pastries and of course mimosas for breakfast.  Your server will gladly bring coffee, wine, beer and cocktails.  Oddly, iced tea was not readily available, but our server prepared some quickly without hesitation. 
What to Wear:  
– For ladies: Sundresses, skirts, or slacks with a blouse.  
– For men: Long pants (no shorts) and collared shirts.  
– Closed-toe shoes or dressy sandals are recommended.

5. Oceana:    

Hours: 6:00 PM – 10:30 PM.  This seafood restaurant is situated near the beach and serves delicious seafood dishes featuring the freshest catch of the day.  Some of our favorite dishes were the Tuna Tartar, fresh and flavorful, served with avocado mousse and sweet potato chips; the Catch of the Day: Grilled to perfection and served with a caper cream sauce; and the Surf & Turf Skewers: A delicious combination of shrimp and beef fillet, grilled with vegetables and teriyaki sauce.  
What to Wear:  
– For ladies: Cocktail dresses, skirts, or slacks with elegant blouses. Dress shoes or heels are recommended.  
– For men: Long pants (no shorts), collared shirts, and dress shoes. Jackets are optional but add a touch of sophistication.

6. Cin Cin:     

Hours: 6:00 PM – 10:30 PM.  This Mediterranean meets Italian restaurant features classic Italian dishes such as minestrone soup, spaghetti alla carbonara, shrimp risotto, pizza, seafood puttanesca, Parmesan chicken, and other great options. 
Must-Try Dishes:  
– Penne alla Sorrentina: Pasta in a rich tomato and basil sauce, topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan.  
– Frutti di Mare Pizza: Loaded with shrimp, mussels, and squid in a puttanesca-style sauce.  
– Tiramisu: A classic Italian dessert with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone cream.  
What to Wear:  
– For ladies: Sundresses, skirts, or slacks with a blouse.  
– For men: Long pants (no shorts) and collared shirts.  
– Closed-toe shoes or dressy sandals are recommended.

Castaways is a versatile restaurant that caters to all meals of the day, offering everything from hearty breakfasts to grilled specialties for dinner.  

Preferred Club Breakfast Highlights: Eggs Benedict: Perfectly poached eggs on English muffins, topped with hollandaise sauce; Chilaquiles: Available with red, green, or Oaxacan mole sauce, this dish is a flavorful way to start your day. Available ONLY for Preferred Club guests like you! 

Lunch Highlights: Fish Ceviche: Fresh and zesty, with a perfect balance of lime, onion, and cilantro. Baja-Style Fish Tacos: Lightly battered fish topped with cabbage salad and avocado.  

Dinner Highlights: Prime Rib: Juicy and tender, served with baked potato and vegetables; BBQ Baby Pork Ribs: Fall-off-the-bone tender with a smoky, sweet glaze.  
What to Wear:  
– Breakfast & Lunch: Casual resort wear like shorts, t-shirts, or sundresses. Sandals or sneakers are acceptable.  
– Dinner: For ladies, sundresses, skirts, or capri pants with a nice top. For men, long pants (jeans or khakis) and collared shirts. Closed-toe shoes or dressy sandals are recommended.

8. Barefoot Grill:  

This casual poolside grill serves burgers, hot dogs, wings, nachos, and guac as well as your favorite beverage/cocktail.  You can sit and enjoy your snack there or take your dish to go and eat on the beach or poolside.  Our favorite was the Mexcian style hot dog topped with chili, pico de gallo, and jalapenos. 

9. Coco Café:  

This coffee bar serves premium coffee, tea, pastries, premium sandwiches, and other light snacks throughout the day.  Great for a pick-me-up during the day. 

10. Room Service:   

Open 24 hours.  Dress Code:  anything you want!  The breakfast highlights included Chilaquiles: Available with red or green sauce, topped with eggs and your choice of protein and the American Breakfast: A hearty meal with eggs, sausage or bacon, and fresh fruit.  For lunch, try the Fish Tacos (Baja Style): Lightly battered fish topped with guacamole and pico de gallo or go with the simple but tasty Club Sandwich: A classic sandwich with ham, chicken salad, and bacon, served with fries.  

After-Hours Highlights: Room Service will be the only place to get coffee before 7:00am, other than the substandard in-room coffee maker.  Besides that, it’s great for a late night snack such as Nachos: Perfect for a late-night snack, loaded with cheese, guacamole, and jalapeños.  
What to Wear:  
– Whatever you’re comfortable in! Whether it’s your pajamas or a robe, room service is all about relaxation.

1. Skybar:  

Pictured left, is the perfect gathering space before and after dinner.  Guests may sit and enjoy the cool Pacific evening breeze while listening to live music most nights.  Wine, beer and cocktails are plentiful.  Life Goal Travel favorites:  Gin & tonic, Bailey’s on the rocks, Sauvignon Blanc. 

2. Preferred Club Bar:  

Open daily from 10am to 11pm, this lobby bar serves premium cocktails, wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres for Preferred Club guests only.  Our favorite cocktail here was the Cadillac Margarita made with fresh lime, Patron Silver Tequila, Grand Marnier liqueur (not the house Triple Sec) and sweetened with Splenda instead of simple syrup.  This is the only bar in the resort that carries these premium liquors.   

Life Goal Travel tip:  If you are at a different bar, let them know ahead of time you if are a Preferred Guest and they will try to accommodate you by bringing your premium liquor to that bar just for you!

3. Marlin:  

Open daily from 10am to 6pm, this swim-up bar is situated in the main pool and serves refreshing cocktails and cold beer.  Great, lively social scene during the day. 

4. Desires:  

Situated just outside the restaurant corridor, Desires is a great place to catch sports events during the day.  Bar service begins at 4pm, but you are welcome to bring your own from any nearby bar.  At night, Desires becomes the resort’s music lounge.  

Life Goal Travel Tip:  If you have a specific sports match you’d like to watch, call the concierge desk and someone will set up the channel for you.  Desires has U.S. TV channels not available in your room!    

Spa and Wellness 

The Secrets Spa by Pevonia is a serene oasis offering a wide range of treatments inspired by indigenous ingredients and techniques. We indulged in a couples’ massage that left us feeling completely rejuvenated.  The gym is well-equipped and has an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean from your spin bike. 

Pools and Beach

Secrets Huatulco boasts three stunning infinity pools, each offering a different vibe. The main pool is lively and social, while the quiet pool provides a more tranquil environment. The resort’s private beach is a pristine stretch of golden sand, perfect for sunbathing or long walks along the shore. 

Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: Reserve a Bali bed by the pool or beach for the ultimate relaxation experience. These can be booked through the concierge for a nominal fee. 

Activities and Entertainment 

There’s no shortage of things to do at Secrets Huatulco. We particularly enjoyed the yoga classes on the beach, cooking demonstrations, and wine tastings. The resort also offers a variety of non-motorized water sports, including kayaking and paddleboarding.

Off-Resort Excursions 

While it’s tempting to never leave the resort, Huatulco has much to offer. We took a boat tour of the nearby bays, which included snorkeling in crystal-clear waters and visiting secluded beaches. The resort’s concierge can arrange various excursions, including visits to local coffee plantations and the charming town of La Crucecita.

Maria, our poolside server, always remembered our preferred drinks and kept us well-hydrated throughout our stay.
