• Check your weather app and book your spa treatment on a rainy day. The spa tends to be really busy when guest can’t hang out at the pool or beach. For the Apple weather app, use Punta Maroma as the location. On the Weather Channel app, you can use Puerto Morelos as your site. 

• Room Service is top notch and spectacular.  With choices like grilled fish and vegetables, New York Steak, Beef/Shrimp/Chicken fajitas, shrimp tacos, guac and pico de gallo, sushi, calamari, soups and so much more, there’s hardly any reason to leave your room.   Room Service was QUICK during our stay, relative to other Hyatt Inclusive properties our team has visited.  Life Goal Travel Pro Tip:  Indicate on your In-Room tablet that you would like for the server place it in you Secrets Box for an incredible way to start your day! 

• Order hot chocolate off the menu with your in-room breakfast. If you’ve never tried Mexican Abuelita chocolate, your morning palate will be simply delighted. You can drink it straight or splash it generously in your coffee for a caffeinated chocolaty start to your day.  You won’t find it on the menu but use your in-room tablet and include your special request in the Notes section. 

• Plan your dinners as soon as you arrive. Open your Hyatt Inclusive app and      schedule your Teppanyaki dinner.  Space is limited.  Some restaurants close certain days so be sure to check dark days.  Review which nights will host themed dinner events outdoors such Asado Night (amazing outdoor barbecue), and other events.  

• Beach chairs are set up by 6:45am. If sitting at the front of the line is important to you, make sure you are set up by 7:45am depending on hotel occupancy. You can still capture a great seat until about 9:30am most days.  Remember: The beach concierge allows you to leave your chair unattended for a max of 45 minutes (enough time to grab a coffee or a bite to eat); after that, you run the risk of having your items moved.  Pro Tip:  contact us to accept an Unlimited Sharing Referral invite and you’ll receive access to the Preferred Club beach area.  Your PC beach concierge may personally ensure you get the seat you want (make sure to leave a good tip!) 

•  Bring your Insulated Cup. The Caribbean sun can melt your ice quickly and preserving your drink temp will ensure your ice cubes won’t dilute your beach or pool experience. 

• Men: Bring long pants for dinner. Consider it a date night with your life person. Even though you’re on vacation, most restaurants require men to wear long pants (denim is fine) for dining indoors. You ARE able to dine with shorts, but you’ll be seated outdoors. This is fine during the cooler months but could be an issue during the hotter months.  

• Bring some dollar bills for tipping.  Your servers work extremely hard to keep the exclusivity of this resort at its finest, and even though gratuity is included, they’ll appreciate your generosity.  Tipping will also ensure that they’ll keep an eye on you personally in case you need a special service during your stay. 

• Check the Hyatt Inclusive App for the Silent Disco Party at the Lobby Bar.  If you’ve never been to a silent disco, I won’t ruin the surprise for you.  Suffice it to say, it’s A LOT of fun.  Life Goal Hack:  Be one of the first in line prior to start.  Headphones are limited.

Restaurants: 

Secrets Maroma Beach Resort offers a diverse range of dining options to satisfy each guest’s craving or preference.  They provide the ultimate gastronomic experience with some of the finest chefs in Mexico.  The resort has nine restaurants that serve a variety of cuisine from around the world.  No reservation is necessary with the exception of the Teppanyaki table and a few special dining events.

Dress Code:

Before we proceed, Secrets resorts do their best to maintain the high standards and elegance of their properties.  While lunch has a much more relaxed vibe at the Market Buffet and outdoor restaurants like Seaside and Barefoot Grill, indoor dining will require a casual elegance dress code to include:

• Dress shoes, sneakers/tennis shoes
• Dress shirts with short or long sleeves
• Collared shirts, dresses, blouses
• Long pants for men for indoor seating
• Bermuda shorts or capri pants are acceptable for outdoor seating for dinner.
• Absolutely no sleeveless shirts, flip-flops for dinner restaurants
• For lunch dining, women must wear a bathing suit wrap or cover-up

Market Cafe

The Market Cafe serves international buffet style breakfast and lunch options.  LifeGoalTravel recommends the made-to-order omelets with Mexican hot chocolate in the morning and the fresh surf and turf grill bar & ceviche bar for lunch. 

Preferred Club Beach Restaurant

OK, so here’s a great reason to stay as a Preferred Club guest at Secrets Maroma. This is a gorgeous outdoor restaurant with a beautiful beach vibe, a simple but varied menu, a comfy lounge area, and even soft white sand on the floor! The Preferred Club Restaurant is located just steps away from the Preferred Club guest beach area is extremely convenient to walk in for breakfast or lunch if you are spending your day at the beach. The bar carries premium spirits that you may not find at other non-Preferred Club bars including the elusive Grand Marnier for delicious Cadillac Margaritas! The PC restaurant is open for breakfast (8:00am to 11:00am) & lunch (12:00pm to 5:00pm) and hosts events for dinner on certain days (check your Hyatt Inclusive app). Breakfast options include crepes, oatmeal, yogurt, pancakes, waffles, salmon bagel with capers, omelets, Eggs Benedict, and plenty of Mexican dishes. For lunch, you can enjoy quesadillas, ceviche, tacos, salmon, ribs, burgers and more.  During one morning, they had a violinist serenading us for breakfast! 

El Patio

Open 6pm to 11:00pm, El Patio is their traditional Mexican restaurant with cuisine from different areas of Mexico, including the Yucatan and Oaxaca.  Start with their shrimp and scallop aguachile (a type of cilantro & lime ceviche), shrimp cantina soup, or melted cheese and longaniza (Mexican sausage), then try something traditional like beef tongue, shrimp/cheese, or pastor style tacos, beef flautas (“flutes”), or enchiladas. They also serve fine cuts of grilled meats and fish. Be sure to try their specialty margaritas and Mexican cocktails.  They even have a gluten-free menu with choices like sea bass, vegan tacos, and three milk cake!  Life Goal Travel Recommendation: Start with the crispy cauliflower and try the chicken mole (pronounced: moh-leh) or Governor tacos (shrimp & cheese). Or go all out and try the house specialty: the Mocajete (a traditional Mexican mortar for making salsas) filled with shrimp, cactus, steak, chicken, octopus and an incredible salsa, then cleanse your palate with some fresh-made churros. 

Himitsu

Open from 6pm to 11:00pm, Himitsu offers a Pan-Asian fine dining experience with dishes such as sushi, ramen, tom yum soup, seafood wok, gyoza, sashimi, temaki, teppanyaki, and a fabulous miso soup.  Desserts include bergamot sorbet, a guava cheesecake, and of course, tempura ice cream.  By far, this restaurant has the most extensive gluten-free options at the resort.  Remember, the Teppanyaki table is available with reservation, so make sure to book your dinner on the Hyatt Inclusive app as soon as you check in to the resort.  Life Goal Travel Recommendation: The crispy spring rolls, spicy edemame (ask for them with sriracha & soy sauce!), and Yaki-soba with beef and vegetables were delightful. Make sure to leave room for some tempura ice cream! 

Portofino

Portofino offers delectable a la carte cuisine in a beautiful Italian setting with a wine cellar.  The Portofino menu includes such savory selections such as eggplant lasagna, pear salad with walnuts (always a winner), candied fig salad (yes, please!), minestrone soup, linguini alfredo, capellini stroganoff, risotto with beef broth, lamb tortellini, lasagna Bolognese (Life Goal Travel Recommendation!), and chicken alla parmigiana.  Leave some room for the pistachio cream cannolo! Open from 6pm to 11:00pm 

Oceana

This open-air restaurant overlooking the pool offers fresh seafood and steak, open from 6:30pm to 11:00pm.  It can get a bit hot out there, so this restaurant allows long shorts or capri pants, sneakers or sandals (no sleeveless shirts for men).  Oceana has various vegan options, but our favorites were the watermelon tataki with soy sauce, the “Maroma Style” tuna which is cook at your table, and the seafood soup. If you want to venture out a bit, try the grilled octopus with chorizo! And don’t miss out on the Frangelico apple tart and the Oreo cheesecake. 

Bordeaux

Bordeaux Guests are treated to excellent French and international dishes. Open from 6pm to 11:00pm.  In this elegant & romantic setting, your dinner begins with a light appetizer carefully curated by the chef, and a cheese & bread cart with so many options. You also have plenty of gluten-free options like Ratatouille, gratinated clams, salmon tartare, roasted duck, steak, mussels, and even some creme brulee and macaroons!  Traditional dishes include duck foie gras, escargot (yumm!), canard a l’orange made with Grand Marnier, some delectable fish, chicken, lamb or beef dishes, and much more. 

Life Goal Travel recommendation:  Escargot a la Bourguignon, the Chicken Cordon Bleu and the crème brulee are a must! 

Barefoot Grill

Open 12:30pm to 6pm and offers casual grilled meals and snacks for beachside or poolside cravings.  Choices include beef or chicken nachos, Ceasar salad, chicken wings (spicy buffalo or sweet BBQ), flame-grilled cheeseburger & fries (excellent!), calamari rings, BBQ Pork sandwich, & a nice Poke Bowl station.

Life Goal Travel recommendation:  The roasted red snapper with grilled vegetables was incredible. Yes, you get the whole fish! Ask for a side of limes for your fish. 

Life Goal Travel Pro Tip: This is a come-as-you-are lunch option with no dress code. No shoes? no shirt? no problem!

Coco Cafe

Serves coffee, danishes, sweet bread and light snacks 24 hours a day.  

Seaside Grill

Open for lunch (11:00 am to 5pm) and dinner (6:30pm to 11pm).  So many options here with a casual dress code in the open air.  Vegan menu available.  Life Goal Travel recommendations for lunch include the Puerto Soup (with tons of mussels, giant shrimp, fish and calamari in a spicy broth), the shredded crab meat tostada, the ribeye tostada, shrimp aguachile (a cilantro & lime ceviche), and the Baja or pastor style tacos. Of course, you can’t go wrong with the grilled salmon on risotto with a caper sauce! Be sure to come back for dinner (you can wear shorts here) and try the ribeye tacos and the surf & turf. In the summer months, it may be a bit warm, but our visit in October was simply perfect for a romantic outdoor dinner.

Bars: 

There are various bars available in Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun that cater to different vibe feels.  

The Rendezvous Lobby Bar is the resort’s largest evening hang-out spot and is located in the main lobby. They carry an extensive variety of cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits.  This is a great spot for evening fun before or after dinner with live music from a professional pianist, to a solo sax player, to a great acoustic duet.  At least once a week, the Lobby Bar hosts a lively silent disco for great fun and dancing.  Life Goal Travel recommendation:  the Oaxacan Old Fashioned, made with tequila and mezcal, instead of rye. Try it with Splenda instead of sugar for a low-carb option.  

The Preferred Club Restaurant Bar is situated steps away from the Preferred Club private beach area. This spot has upgraded premium spirits to take your cocktails to another level. Life Goal Travel recommendation:  the Cadillac Margarita made with Grand Marnier (only found in Preferred Club bars) with Don Julio Reposado tequila, fresh lime and sweetened with 1 Splenda. You’ll thank us later!

The Preferred Club is yet another amenity for Preferred Guests only. It features a comfy air-conditioned lounge area with big screens to catch the big game, a private bar, pool table, board games, and is simply a great location to get out of the sun (or rain) to enjoy light snacks and light conversation with other Preferred Guests. You can also pick up a morning coffee with a light breakfast or use their business center and printer for those of us who can’t disconnect completely during our stay. 

The Sugar Reef Pool & Beach Bar is an outdoor club complete with a full bar, pool table, table tennis, foosball, darts, and huge screens to watch the game. Think: “outdoor man-cave” or “she-shed”. It’s open very late at night for night-owls who want to keep the party going. 

Barracuda Bar is located near the beach and main pool and serves refreshing drinks and cocktails while guests lounge in the pool or soak up the sun on the beach.  You can walk up and request your favorite cocktail within seconds or ask your server to bring the cool beverage to your spot. Although gratuities are included in your package, Life Goal Travel recommends kindly tipping your beach/pool servers to thank them for doing the legwork for you. Life Goal Travel recommendation:  the Mexican Michelada made with Sol cerveza, Salsa Inglesa, Salsa Magi, lime and spices. It’s an awesome way to cool off on beach day.  

Manatees is another popular spot at the resort. This is a swim-up bar which is perfect for enjoying cocktails and drinks while cooling down in the pool.  Try them frozen or on the rocks! 

Desires Night Club is a lively club venue complete with a dancefloor and professional DJ’s. Open most nights and hosts a silent DJ disco once a week. Check your Hyatt Inclusive app for nightly events! 

Activities: 

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun is chock full of indoor and outdoor activities daily. Start your day with some swimming pool spin lessons or pump some iron in your state of the art gym. 

You can also get into full vacay mode by relaxing on a Beach or Bali bed (for an extra cost, but very worth it) or make it a spa day. You can even reserve these on your Hyatt inclusive app. 

From tennis, to kayaking, to water sports, to fishing or snorkeling, your stay can be as eventful or as chill as you’d like.  It’s easy to schedule water tours from the vendors who walk the beach, or schedule one with your Concierge.
